T.C. Au was awarded a Bachelor of Laws (Upper Second Class Honours) degree by the University of Buckingham in 1989 and a Master of Laws Degree from the University of London in 1997. T.C. Au is an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. He is also called to the Bar of England and Wales at Lincoln’s Inn.
Background
Au trained inter alia at Messrs Khattar Wong & Partners and Messrs Haridass Ho & Partners. He was called to the Singapore Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor in 1996, and then joined Tan-Au Associates. Upon the merger of Tan-Au Associates with Thomas Au & Lim, he became a partner of Tan & Au Partnership (now known as Tan & Au LLP).
Prior to legal practice, Au was a deputy executive director of a leading trade union in Singapore where for more than 20 years he oversaw employer/employee industrial relations, organised education and training activities, publications of the union’s news journals and books and managed international relations with compatriots in overseas unions.

T.C. Au graduated from Singapore Polytechnic with a Diploma in Maritime Studies in 1983, before obtaining a Bachelor of Laws (Upper Second Class) from the University of Buckingham. He is called to Bar of Singapore, and is a Barrister-at-law with Lincoln Inn.
Au also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) from the City University of Hong Kong. In addition he has a Master of Laws Degree from the University of London in 1997, having read Company Law, Admiralty Law, Marine Insurance and Carriage of Goods by Sea.
